Frequently Asked Questions About our Island  Experiences: 

Please find below the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about our guided experiences. If the answer is not below or if you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us:

How intense are the walks and on your tours / experiences?

Aran Off Road Experiences are centred around immersive adventure activities. If you are an active person we feel that you will enjoy our experiences. There is walking along a rough rocky terrain that requires balance and stability.

Can children go on the tour?

Due to the fact that we will be doing some bit of walking / hiking we do not take children under the age of 6.

Children are considered to be between 6 and 12 years of age. 

There are child prices available also.  Contact us for more information .

How many people can you take?

We have a capacity of 12 seats. All are fitted with seatbelts. Advanced notice is required for the booster seat.

Are the tours suitable for people with mobility issues?

Our vehicle is not wheelchair accessible. Because we will be stopping to take in the stunning scenery a few times it is advisable that you must be able to get on and off our tour vehicles unaided. 

Do you take cash or credit/debit card?

We accept cash or card.

Do you provide private tours?

Yes, we can provide tailored, private tours to suit the client. We can plan a personalised itinerary to visit different attractions and have a flexible time schedule. Please contact us for more details. 

 

Is the tour weather dependent?

If it rains on the day of the tour, there is not much to worry about! We recommend you to wear appropriate shoes and outer wear for that weather. If there is a weather alert, we may have to cancel the tour. In this case, we will notify you as soon as possible. You are then eligible for a refund or to reschedule the tour, if possible. 

 

 

 

What do I need?

 

What should I bring with me on this tour?

In terms of clothes we would advise that you bring some comfortable clothing with you. As we will be going on some walks it is advisable to bring comfortable walking shoes, comfortable clothing, a jacket.

We would also advise that before your tour / experience commences that, if at all possible that you bring some form of snack with you. 

 

What do I need to do while on tour?

We expect each of our passengers to: 

  • abide by our Safety Policy. 

  • abide by our guides rules while on tour.

What clothing do you recommend?

It is important to wear good runners or walking boots. We would recommend bringing a waterproof jacket and a hat and sun cream for sunny days!

 

Where can we have something to eat?

There is a complimentary tea/coffee provided at Paudy’s Ice-cream shop at Dún Aonghusa where they also sell ice-creams, waffles and crepes. There is also a lovely coffee shop at Dún Aonghusa. Joe Wattys pub and The Aran Islands Hotel provide lunch and dinner daily. 

Can we bring food/drink on the jeep?

Yes, you can bring food on the tour but it must be eaten outside the jeep and take your rubbish with you please.

From Galway :

Did you know that it takes just 8 minutes to fly to Inis Mór? They fly out of Connemara Airport which is less than 40 minutes drive from Galway City. Flying is especially popular for visitors returning to the island who have ‘done’ the boat already and are looking for something different.

Aran Island Ferries is one of Ireland’s largest domestic ferries. They operate all year round (except 24th, 25th & 26th December) from Rosaveel Harbour, which is approx 45 mins from Galway City. You can get a bus transfer from Galway City to Rosaveel approximately 1 hour before the ferry time at a cost of €9 return per adult.

Can you pick-up/drop-off to the accommodation/pier?

Yes, we can arrange to pick-up/drop-off to your accommodation. We can meet you at the pier when you arrive and we will have you back to the pier for the afternoon ferry.
